Also, if you are in the area, stop on by and visit our NEW store: Hands with Hearts Gift Shop!This is a craft store with products that are made for and by the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Interpreter communities. We also have DVD's for Interpreters and Interpreter in Training Students for receptive practice. Come on in and see what we have to offer! We would love to see you here!

Friday and Saturday July 11th and 12th, 2008 Craft Sale
Friday 3:00 pm- 8:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am-4:00 pm
Come one, come all to the ASL Resource Center's Crafts Sale. We will be hosting this two day event for those who would love to come in and buy or sell crafts made from the Deaf Community and Interpreters. This would be a great opportunity to come in and sell any gently used craft supplies too. For more information, please contact our office and speak with Anne if you are interested in renting a table.
NOTE: There will be no IIG for July, come on out for August at our picnic!
Monday July 14, 2008 Beginner ASL Class

The Beginner ASL Class will be offered as a six week course. The teacher is Mary Luczki. If you are interested in signing up for the ASL class, or are interested in the cost, please give us a call at the ASL Resource Center and we can help you out!
Friday July 18, 2008 Introduction to Educational Interpreting
Presenter: Esteva Westfall, NAD IV

As part of our mini-workshop series, we will be introducing the ins and outs of the educational interpreting field. We will be discussing the role of an educational interpreter, the duties, and the role an interpreter will play within the educational team. Also, participants will learn about the various situations and possible scenarios that an educational interpreter may find themselves in! For those interpreters and ITP students who are looking to become educational interpreters, this is a great informational session! This event is QA and RID CEU approved.
Saturday July 19, 2008 Deaf Education: A Teacher's Perspective
Presenter: Paul Fugate, MA, NAD IV
10 am- 2 pm
Cost: Pre-Register $20/ At-Door $25
This workshop will be exploring the various educational and language levels of Deaf students in the classroom today. Participants will get a feel for the type of students that they may encounter while interpreting in mainstream or residential school settings. By learning about the varying levels, the participants will be able to learn what is needed to modify their interpreting to match their student’s needs. This event is QA and RID CEU approved.
